Children in Year 6 helped plant some new trees in the front garden of the school this week. 

Here at Sowerby Academy, we know how important it is to the world, our own environment  and to wildlife to keep planting new trees, flowers and shrubbery, so we were delighted when one of our Year 6 children's parent, Mr. Dimon, donated two rowan trees (native to the UK ).

Mr. Dimon donated a tree for each Year 6 class of 2020. His daughter Abigail is a current Year 6 pupil and leaves on Friday to start her new school life in Year 7 in September. 

With social distancing in mind, each child took a turn to help plant the trees. Take a look at our video recording to see how they all got on!
